Duration of MBBS Course :
The total duration of MBBS Course is 4 ½ years plus one year internship. The 4 ½ years course is divided into 9 semesters. The duration of PG degree is 3 years. The Duration of PG Diploma is two years.
Teaching and Learning Methods :
The MBBS teaching consists of didactic lectures, seminars, group discussions and inter departmental lectures. Very good opportunities are provided for teacher student inter action. The ultimate goal is to train a physician who is capable of looking after the preventive, promotive, curative & rehabilitative aspects of medicine. The internal assessment carries 20% marks. The final assessment carries 80% Marks. The examinations and evaluation are conducted by NTR University of Health sciences. The Degrees awarded by NTR University of Health sciences are recognized throughout the world.
Non Clinical Departments :
The Medical College is having Anatomy, Physiology and Biochemistry Departments in the A Module. The Lecture Galleries, Demonstration rooms, Departmental libraries, and laboratories are as per MCI norms. All the lecture Galleries are air conditioned.
Para clinical Departments :
The Departments of Pharmacology, Pathology, Microbiology, Forensic Medicine and Community Medicine are having all facilities for under graduate and Post graduate training.
Clinical Departments :
The Departments of General Medicine, General Surgery, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Pediatrics, Orthopedics, ENT, Ophthalmology, Dermatology, TB and chest Diseases, Psychiatry, Radio Diagnosis, and anesthesia are located in the teaching Hospital. These departments are having very good infrastructure for teaching and to tackle all Medical and Surgical Emergencies.
Urban Health Centre :
The College is running an Urban Health Centre in Ashoknagar, Eluru to impart field training to medical students. The Post Partum programme attached to the OB&Gy Department is also serving the needs of urban population.
The Rural Health centre :
located at Akiveedu is also imparting training to Medicos. Besides, it is also serving the health needs of 2.0 lakh population.
The Primary Health centres :
at Gundugolanu, Pedapadu and Pothunuru are also used for training purpose. These centres are very good for young medicos to understand the health problems of rural population.
